Every 6 months to a year depending on how much surface contaminants are in your clear coat. If your paint feels rough and not smooth like glass, it needs clay bar. Especially before additional detailing services like hand waxing, paint correction, polishing and or buffing. This is needed before these services because you can unintentionally drag these surface contaminants across your paint and create swirl marks. 

Automatic car washes use brushes and recycled water, and both of these can lead to damage in your clear coat with swirl marks. Oftentimes the rollers and brushes capture dirt from other vehicles and then drag it across your cars painted surfaces causing swirl marks, scratches and micro swirl marks. 

Unlike a traditional car wash where the brushes rollers and machinery cannot adjust to your vehicles accessories, we hand wash everything and can work around any added accessory.

Handwashing your vehicle weekly is recommended so that surface contaminants such as bird droppings, bug splatters, road grime, tar etc does not sit on your clear coat long enough to damage it.
